Keynote Speaker:
Tim Wise – AuthorTim Wise is among the most prominent anti-racist writers and activists in the U.S., and has been called, "One of the most brilliant, articulate and courageous critics of white privilege in the nation," by Professor Michael Eric Dyson, of Georgetown University. Wise has spoken in 48 states, on over 400 college campuses, and to community groups around the nation.
Wise is the author of
White Like Me: Reflections on Race from a Privileged Son, Affirmative Action: Racial Preference in Black and White, and Speaking Treason Fluently: Anti-Racist Reflections from an Angry White Male. He has contributed essays to twenty books, and is one of several persons featured in White Men Challenging Racism: Thirty-Five Personal Stories , from Duke University Press. He received the 2001 British Diversity Award for best feature essay on race issues, and his writings have appeared in dozens of popular, professional and scholarly journals.

Closing Speaker: James Foster, Diversity & Community Coordinator
Gary native James Foster believes that "We can make things better!" and incorporates this attitude in all of his diversity work. Foster is a trained diversity workshop facilitator and is a certified Zenger-Miller facilitator. Also, he has worked at Purdue University as a manager in the residence hall system for over 30 years. Foster is very active in the Lafayette community serving on various non-profit boards and is the Minister of the Word of Life Fellowship Church.
