For nearly fourteen years, Ed Ellis has served as the president of Iowa Pacific Holdings. The private holding company owns railroad properties across North America and the United Kingdom, as well as providing services such as railcar repairs and leasing and management and consulting services to other operators. Unique to the rail industry is Iowa Pacific’s successful promotion of passenger rail in concert with their freight rail business. In December, INDOT selected IPH as the management, equipment provider, and marketer for the 196-mile Hoosier State passenger rail service. Iowa Pacific is scheduled to take over the Hoosier State from Amtrak effective April 1.
