As entrepreneurship thrives during economic downturns, Greater Lafayette Commerce and SCORE are partnering to offer a free workshop to those interested in pursuing a new business venture through a franchise.
The mis-perception remains that franchises are expensive and for food and retail only. This workshop will discuss many types of franchises and how affordable they can be. Jim Gleason, of FranNet of Mid-America, will conduct the workshop. Gleason is a franchise consultant with experience matching parties with franchises.
For Greater Lafayette Commerce’s Jerry Holsapple, the workshop’s timing is optimal.
''We are seeing an increase in potential entrepreneurs as people leave their current employers to start a new venture,'' says Holsapple. ''There are many ways to start your own businesses, but there seems to be less understanding of the advantages of franchises.''
Topics covered at the workshop include:
What is franchising and why does it work? What are the Pros and Cons?
