Description

The regional advocacy coordinator for the YWCA Great Lakes Alliance will speak on the topic "YWCA Core Advocacy Issues" at the October 10th Network Luncheon at the YWCA, 605 N. 6th Street, Lafayette. Rebecca Gurney will inform the audience about the YWCA USA's seven advocacy issues and how issues are selected as priorities. All the issues relate to eliminating racism and empowering women. The luncheon will be held from 11:45 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. The cost to attend is $10.

The post-luncheon workshop, called "The Nuts and Bolts of Advocacy," will explore advocacy in general and not solely the YWCA's work. This workshop can be beneficial for private citizens as well as representatives of organizations. The workshop will run from 1:15 to 3:00 p.m., and the cost is $5.

The reservation deadline is noon on Friday, October 7. The luncheon sponsor is Nola Gentry of Gentry Farms, and the workshop sponsor is the Chamber of Commerce Business & Culture Partnership Committee. For more information, call 765-742-0075. Other Network Luncheons are listed in the programs sections at www.ywca.org/lafayette.
