Thursday, January, 8:00 - 11:00 am
SIA Training Center, Lafayette
Register now - (765) 742-4044
The first WVLN meeting for 2012 will be held Thursday, January 5th, at SIA Training Center, Lafayette (SR 38 & I-65). This program will focus on Organizing and Sustaining the Workplace - 5S. Our speakers come from two very different workplace environments: Wabash National Corp (heavy manufacturing) & Franciscan St. Elizabeth (health care). It will be most interesting to learn how the basic 5S tool is being applied in both type environments, and the methods these organizations are using to sustain improvements being made.
Wabash National will discuss 5S and Wabash WIN teams: 5S is one of the foundational blocks to building the lean house. We all know the 5S concepts are fairly simple and make a lot of sense, but sustaining 5S is always much harder than any one expects. Their segment will cover fundamentals of 5S, common pitfalls and things to be aware of, as well as how Wabash National's WIN team structure is an integral part to the final 5S: Sustain.
Karissa McConnell is a Continuous Improvement Engineer at Wabash National and prior to that worked for Nestle, USA. She has a bachelor degree in Industrial Engineering.
Matt Brock is the WIN Team Facilitator at Wabash National. He has a bachelor degree from Purdue in Occupational, Health, and Safety and a masters degree from Indiana Wesleyan in Business Administration.
Franciscan St. Elizabeth will discuss application of the 5S tool in a relatively clean, health care environment, describe how a few recent 5S projects were completed successfully, and explain how Franciscan is attempting to sustain 5S and other improvements.
